Dr. Debajyoti Bhattacharya is a seasoned public health professional with over 14 years of experience in government and development sectors, including roles at the National Health Mission (NHM) Tripura, PATH, and CARE India. He holds Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) from University of Calcutta, Post Graduate Diploma in Healthcare Quality Management (PGDHQM) from TISS, Mumbai, and Master of Public Health (MPH) from JIPMER, Puducherry.
His expertise encompasses health system strengthening, Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health plus Nutrition (RMNCAH+N), Comprehensive Primary Health Care, Quality Assurance, Urban Health, Routine Immunization, and Community Process initiatives. Previously worked in Punjab, providing technical assistance to the Punjab Development Commission and state health authorities alongside PATH, focusing on strategic planning, digital integration, and capacity building to improve primary healthcare and advance Universal Health Coverage. In Odisha, served as a Quality Assurance Specialist for the USAID-led PSI/PATH Samagra project, supporting urban public health facilities under the Fifteenth Finance Commission grants. Additionally, worked as a Consultant-Quality Initiative with CARE India in Maharashtra, focusing National Quality Assurance Standards in secondary and tertiary public health facilities in Nashik and Washim districts. Previously, at NHM Tripura, he led state-level Training of Trainers (TOT) programs for community processes and Quality Assurance, served as District Nodal Officer for Quality Assurance, ASHA, and Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK), and acted as Program Officer for Immunization.
He is empanelled as an External Assessor for the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) under Quality & Patient Safety Division, National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India. He has contributed five publications to national and international journals in the field of Public Health.
